연구자 소개
연구자는 State University of New York at Binghamton에서 박사학위 (2020)를 취득하였다. 15세기 이후 근-현대 중국의 정치적-경제적-사회적 발전과정을 거시적인 관점에서 추적하였고, 박사학위 논문으로 “19세기 중국의 자본주의 세계체제 편입, 1780s-1890s”를 작성하였다. 박사학위논문을 작성하는 동안 연구자는 Dissertation Fellowship (2019)과 Stanford University East Asian Library Travel Grant (2020)를 받았다. 그리고 박사학위 논문 가운데 한 챕터는 NYSSA에서 주관하는 최우수 대학원생 논문상 (2018)을 받았다.
중-장기 영문연구과제로서 연구자는 박사학위논문 “China’s Incorporation Process into the Capitalist World-Economy 1780s-1890s” (중국의 자본주의 세계체제 편입, 1780s-1890s)을 책으로 출판할 계획이다. 저명한 세계체제 이론가 가운데 한 명인, Christopher Chase-Dunn 선생님과 지도교수인 Ravi A. Palat의 추천을 받아 책 출판용 프로포절을 작성했고, 현재 심사를 받고 있는 중이다. 프로포절이 통과된다면, 학위논문의 내용과 이후 추가로 수집된 자료들을 초대로 책을 쓸 예정이다. 이론적/방법론적 단기 연구과제로서 연구자는 “막스베버와 월러스틴의 역사방법비교 연구” 및 “동아시아 3개국의 자본주의 편입과정”을 비교분석해 볼 생각이다.
현재 (2021년 6월), 연구자는 동아시아 지역학 연구, 중국근대사, (비교)역사사회학연구, 세계체제연구, 한국사회변동 및 사회학이론과 관련된 다수의 논문 (11편) 및 북리뷰 (5편)를 SSCI, SCOPUS, 및 한국연구재단 등재지에 발표하였다.
연구자는 State University of New York at Binghamton에서 “China and the world-economy,” (2021년 봄학기) “Geopolitics of U.S. and China,” (2020년 겨울 계절학기) “China in the World,” (2020년 가을학기) “The Opioid Epidemics,” (2019년 겨울 계절학기) “Origins of Opioid Epidemics” (2019년 여름 계절학기) 등을 강의했다.
