The May edition of our Book Talk series will focus on Choi In-Hun’s Asia, a new publication by Professor Jang Moonseok. This event offers a fresh perspective on the literary world of Choi In-Hun—one of the most representative authors of modern Korean literature—by reexamining his thought and works through the lens of “Asia.”
Choi In-Hun, through seminal works such as The Square, The Gray Man, and The Topic, sought to move beyond the traumas of national division, the Cold War, and colonial legacies. He envisioned the possibility of peace and coexistence by exploring a “third way” of neutralization. His intellectual inquiry extends beyond geopolitical concerns, proposing “Asia” as a principle of new global-historical awareness.
This Book Talk will feature in-depth discussions among leading scholars in the field, exploring the intellectual terrain of Choi In-Hun’s literature.
