Area studies explore the geographical, historical, and social contexts of specific regions, providing an in-depth analysis of their unique characteristics. This workshop series aims to explore new possibilities within area studies, highlighting not only traditional qualitative research but also the exciting aspects of quantitative research, emphasizing data-driven insights. A key focus will be on how data collected across various fields can be integrated and utilized in area studies.

The first presentation in this series will focus on digital humanities. By leveraging digital technologies, we aim to open new pathways in area studies and explore how this lesser-known field can interact with traditional research approaches. The presentation will introduce digital data analysis tools and methodologies, offering participants the opportunity to gain new insights and share methods for applying them in research.
