Researcher Bio

Seonyoung Park is  a geographer (historical geography) who received her  doctorate on the study of Korean modern topography. She has participated as a full-time researcher in numerous historical and geography-related research projects. In particular, she participated in the construction of a historical and geographic information database centered on Korea’s border regions. Other research projects in which she has participated include “Establishment of a Convergent Service for Ancient Maps and Historical Maps” (National Geographic Information Service, 2020), “Kyujanggak Historic Geographic Information Pilot Construction and Service” (Kyujanggak Institute of Korean Studies, 2020), “Historical Geographic Information DB Construction Project” (National History Compilation Committee, 2020), “Korea Modern Geographic Information DB Construction Project” (National History Compilation Committee 2019), “Goryo-Joseon Place Name Change DB Construction and Electronic Map Production” (The Korean Studies Center, 2017-2019), etc. She is currently is a member of the Data Storytelling Cluster of the Mega-Asia Research Project and is participating in the research agenda for the creation of the Atlas of Asia.
