Researcher Bio

Jaeyeol Yee, a Professor of Sociology, is currently the president of the Korea Institute of Social Sciences and his responsibilities include archiving, sharing and disseminating vast amounts of data in the social sciences. For the past 11 years, he has cooperated with the National Statistics Office, participating in the publication of an annual descriptive report based on national statistics titled Social Trends in Korea. Moreover, he has been studying and comparing the social well-being of various countries in East and Southeast Asia for the fifth year as the head of the Korean research group. Among many of his research publications, his books Reading Trends in Korean Society and Asia Connects were recommended on the Sejong Books, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Publication Ethics Committee reading lists. He has furthermore accumulated sufficient experience in the field of data-based systematic curation and story-telling by participating in various domestic and international joint research projects. He endeavors to compile these results into high-quality academic achievements.
